Chelsea have been given a boost in their alleged pursuit of former striker Romelu Lukaku as the Belgian striker has reportedly told his friends he hopes to join Chelsea during the summer.
The Premier League’s leading scorer left the Blues on a permanent basis in the summer of 2014 having spent two seasons out on-loan, first at West Brom and then with current club Everton.
Since joining the Toffee’s for a club record fee of £28 million, the striker has gone from strength to strength and has attracted attention from a host of Europe’s top clubs. Lukaku scored a total of 25 goals last season, and currently has the same total this season with five hames left to play – making him the favourite to win the Golden Boot award.
Chelsea are said to be eyeing replacements for striker Diego Costa, whose future is up in the air amidst rumours of a potential move to either the Chinese Super League or his former club Atletico Madrid.
Should Lukaku re-join with the Blues in the summer, he is expected to command a figure in excess of £50 million in order to secure his services.
