Didier Drogba simply adored playing against Arsenal.
The mere mention of his name sent shivers down the the spine of Arsene Wenger and his back four, as the former Chelsea and Ivory Coast striker scored an astonishing 13 goals in his 15 appearances against the Gunners during his near decade long tenure at Stamford Bridge. His hat-trick during last summer’s pre-season for former club Montreal Impact made in 16 in 16.
That record may just be set to continue however as the former Marseille and Galatasaray hitman has taken to twitter to suggest his business is not quite done in the London derby.
Earlier this month after nearly four months as a free agent, Drogba signed for and become owner of Phoenix Rising FC, a professional side who currently play their football in the second tier of the United States league system. With the takeover, the 39-year-old became the first owner/player in history.
With a what is sure to be a jam packed schedule having all the responsibilities of the club’s chairman and their main target man on his plate, it may be unrealistic to expect ‘Tito’ – as he is well known in some circles – to fly across the Atlantic twice a year and lead the line for the Blues against his former victim.
We can only dream. To keep you happy in the mean-time, here is one of the legendary striker’s greatest ever efforts against the Gunners. Pick that out.
