The Two Man Midfield
Two man midfield hardly screams security does it, however with N’Golo Kante in the side, it may as well be a five man fixture. The Frenchman – Chelsea’s Player of the Season and the PFA POTY – has been nothing short of remarkable all season, proving to be worth every penny of his measly £30 million fee that he commanded from Leicester City last summer.
Finding him a partner ahead of the next year however, could be the tricky part. Nemanja Matic, besides his qualities, seems destined for a move away from London with United and Juventus interested in his signature. Cesc Fabregas may also find himself moving away, as while he provides creativity in the Blues midfield, is often not preferred to start by Antonio Conte.
One man who was on the lips of all those at Chelsea last summer and undoubtedly will be again this time around is Roma and Belgium’s Radja Nainngolan. The combative midfielder possesses many similarities to Kante: high energy, fierce tackling and a knack for breaking the play up, however has more to offer going forward than the France international. The ‘Ninja’ could prove to be the perfect counterweight for Kante next season.
